Shame on them

Corporate Accountability International inducted ExxonMobil, Halliburton, and Wal-Mart into the Corporate Hall of Shame based on the votes of 8,600 people (could vote for 3 corporations).

ExxonMobil is the most profitable corporation in the world, but with 4,834 votes, it is also the least liked, especially for its work against the environment. It has spent millions on preventing action on global warming while avoiding their $4.5 billion payment for damages of the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.

Halliburton was a close second with 4,324 votes, thanks to its high profits from government contracts for the Iraq War and low level of accountability. And now it plans to move its corporate headquarters to Dubai.

Wal-Mart garnered 2,882 votes for not sharing its wealth with employees, discriminating against women, receiving $1.2 billion in tax breaks and other public subsidies.

You can read more about these corporations, including selected voter comments, as well as about runners-up Kimberly-Clark, Coke, Ford, Nestle, and Merck, at their website.
