It's OK to eat Pringles
Pringles is no longer in danger of being associated with Satan, and Procter & Gamble, Pringles' parent company, is $19 million richer. P&G recently won a 12-year-long unfair competition lawsuit against four distributors of rival Amway that had spread rumors that P&G subsidized Satanic cults, the BBC reported.Rumors connecting P&G to Satan started in the 1960s and were fueled by a moon-star symbol that the company had used from 1882 to 1995, according to an Ekklesia story. The 13-star pattern was said to spell out "666," but really stood for the 13 original American colonies.
P&G contended that the Amway distributors spread rumors to consumers that the Pringles' logo (a bearded man looking over 13 stars) was a symbol of Satan, leading to boycotts of the product, especially by Evangelicals, throughout the 1980s and '90s. The distributors said they did all they could to stamp out the rumors.
