Bike to and for church!

All the churches in Christchurch, New Zealand (yes that's the name of a town) aren't your traditional pews and steeple churches. One, in fact, doesn't even have a building. It's the Sunday Afternoon Cycling Church. "I really connect a lot more with God out in the sunshine, on my bike," founder Steven Muir told Assist News Service. "That’s where the idea for the cycling church came from, to encourage a sense of worshipful activities but outside a church setting."

Muir's church also has a strong justice angle to it. Muir fixes up old bikes to give to homeless people, and biking is about taking care of the environment. Muir has created bike trailers, which make bikes more useful for carrying around large loads and small children. He says that his bike trailers have beaten cars in races to the grocery store, even in the rain.

He's written a book, PROSACC – Profound Revelations Of Sunday Afternoon Cycling Church, which is available, along with a prayer and instruction on how to make your own bike trailer, on his website: cyclingchurch.org.nz.
