Rome, Italy. The annual meeting of the General Economic Council, initially scheduled for June, was held in September 2020 and online. From Monday 14 to Friday 18 September, the eleven members of the Council “met” for three hours each day: John Arackaparampil (Northeast India), Luiz Botteon (Brasil), Nathaniel Eke (East Nigeria), Rafael Gómez (Sanctus Paulus), Domingo Grillía (San José del Sur), Ángel de la Parte (Santiago), Giovanni Ramírez (General Curia), Salvador Segura (General Curia), Rosendo Urrabazo (USA-Canada), George Vayaliparampil and Manuel Tamargo (General Curia).

Though it was necessary to reduce the time of the meeting to adjust with the schedules of the members living in different parts of the world, they were able to complete the items of the Agenda: a dialogue on the consequences of the pandemic in the different continents; several pieces of information on the economic progress of the General Administration and the Congregation; and some orientations on the coordination of the congregational economy.

The most important part of the meeting has been dedicated to the preparation of the General Chapter: the draft that will be sent to each Organism for the elaboration of the corresponding report has been revised and updated; the outline of the report that the General Administration will have to elaborate has also been reviewed; and some orientations that the Council of Economy wants to contribute to the Government and the Chapter in order to continue configuring our congregational economy, with transparency and efficiency, at the service of the mission have been gathered .
