“The Spirit of the Lord inspires where it wills, when it wills and whom it wills,. On our part, the important thing is to know the will of God and fulfil it, he will diligently offer us the help and graces we need.

LISTENING TO THE SPIRIT

If you are advanced in age, with many experiences, positive and negative alike: if you live somehow separated from God, read this text from Claret again and open up to the Spirit of the Lord that inspires where it wills, when it wills and whom it wills. Do you not wish at this moment to be that person favoured by the breath of the Spirit who wishes to realize his sanctifying work in the depth of our hearts?
Transform your deepest desire into prayer by making yours this prayer based on the liturgy: Come, divine Spirit, send your light from heaven, loving Father of the poor, gift in your splendid gifts. May my spirit unite with yours and may your consoling Spirit help me to know the will of the Father and fulfil it with great fidelity and devotion, and grant me the graces I need to live in grace and in joy until the prize of perfect vision in heavenly glory.
Surely if you say this prayer frequently, you will feel in the depth of your soul the desire to know and love God and his things more and more and you will be given the grace and strength to fulfil with joyful spirit and generous promptness his holy will on which your present and future sanctification and salvation depend.
St. Paul taught Christians to have that new mentality: “be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Rm 12,2).
Be aware that you will find the joy and peace you need in every moment of your life in the faithful fulfilment of what pleases God; and your faith, confidence and love will continue to grow until you become by the grace of God – that grace poured onto your heart like a gentle rain of joy and peace – a blessed and sanctified saint.
