A Better and Hopeful Future Ahead for the People of Santa

May 10, 2022 | Cameroun, Education Ministry

Bamenda, Cameroon. The Claretian Missionaries in Cameroon have always given hope to the suffering. Amid the ongoing socio-political crises in the country, some have suffered the plague of kidnapping and other forms of torture for preaching the Gospel. One of the sectors that has suffered much in this crisis has been the education of young people who would have taken up arms.

Therefore, in a bid to give quality education for all and promote lifelong learning (SDG4) for sustainable growth of the young people and ascertain good moral and integral formation of the youths, the Claretians undertook the project of the construction of a School in Santa. This school harbors grammar, technical and commercial education under the guardianship of priests, missionaries, and quality teaching staff.

As part of the local contribution and creation of awareness, the village community organized fundraising in Douala, Yaoundé, and Santa. The school principal, Fr. Placid Muntong, CMF, accompanied by other villagers and Claretians, encouraged well-wishers and benefactors to support this fundraising towards the construction of Saint Claret Relief Academy in Santa.

On Sunday, May 8, 2022, they dedicated the Good Shepherd Sunday Mass to thank God, the Congregation, Benefactors, and all people of Goodwill for all the support received. The Major Superior of Cameroun, Fr. Jude Thaddeus Langeh, CMF, during his homily, encouraged those present to always listen to the call of the Good Shepherd to work for peace through the education of the youths.
