A Day to Remember Our Departed Brothers

Rome, Italy. Although the designated date for the Memoria of the departed members of the Congregation is on the 5th of November, the members of the General Curia and the Juridicum communities already paid a visit and celebrated the Eucharist on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Communal Monumental Cemetery of Campo Verano in the Eternal City.

Superior General, Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, presided the Holy Mass in honor of our departed brothers buried in the said cemetery of Rome. During the celebration, he invited those present to also remember the Claretians around the world and one’s family members who have gone ahead to the Father’s House.

The Congregation have two reserved spaces in the said cemetery where former Generals of the Congregation (Frs. Felipe Maroto and Nicolas García, CMFF), former General Government members, former members of Italy Independent Delegation are laid to rest.

+ Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

The Campo Verano (Italian: Cimitero del Verano) is a cemetery in Rome, Italy, founded in the early 19th century. The monumental cemetery is currently divided into sections: the Jewish cemetery, the Catholic cemetery, and the monument to the victims of World War I.
