Oct 6, 2018 | ACLA, East Nigeria

Owerri, Nigeria. From the 30th September to 6th October, the members of the East Nigeria Province gathered at the Claretian Institute of Philosophy, Maryland Nekede, Owerri for their Annual Retreat and X Provincial Assembly.

It was two important moments of grace in the life of the province. The retreat began on 30 September and ended on 3 October. It was moderated by the Dominican priest, Fr. Francis Ozoemena, OP. He called the members to reflect and focus on their call as religious and pay attention on being truly Claretians.

Claretian Bishop of the Diocese of Makurdi, Most Rev. Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe, CMF, presided the opening Mass for the Assembly. He exhorted the missionaries to be aware of the challenges of the times and distinguish themselves in their missionary spirituality in all its dimensions.

The Assembly was themed: “Strengthening Missionary Community as a Basis for the Joy of the Gospel.” The missionaries reflected on this theme of the VII Provincial Chapter. The assembly paid attention on the three processes of transformation. There were also time for group discussions and reports.

The assembly also found time to celebrate her confreres who marked the silver jubilee of their priestly ordination.
