Assembly of Claretians of the Southern Cone II

Jan 22, 2009 | San José del Sur

Argentina. The second day of the Assembly, animated in the liturgy by the Delegation of San José de Chile, we began the day with the Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Agustín Cabré, and the morning praise. In this atmosphere of fraternity and enjoying the excellent climate of the Cordovan Mountains, we dedicated the morning to reflect about the arrival of the first Claretians to these Southern lands. In this task we were helped by Frs. Agustín Cabré and Gustavo Alonso, who explained how and why the first Claretians arrived. Both emphasized the more characteristic notes of those first times, following the typically Claretian aspect of “the most urgent, opportune and efficient”. In both cases the work with the poor contributed to the growth and to the expansion of the communities, bringing about the assumption of new apostolic fields, to the extent that they were recognizing the reality.

After a short rest, Marta Boiocchi, missionary in Haiti, shared with us her experience in that country, and gave thanks for the help and solidarity rendered in the difficult moments of the last season of hurricanes that devastated the country.

After that, we dedicated what was left of the morning and part of the afternoon to watch some presentations of videos and power points that showed us the reality, the history and the life of the four Organisms. In the afternoon we also found time to reflect over the course followed in this process of Reorganization and to share a presentation of the points held in common by the four Pastoral and Missionary Projects of the Organisms. We ended the day with the recitation of the rosary and the supper.
