Celebration of the “Great Grace” of our Father Founder

Sep 28, 2011 | Founders, General Government, Santiago

Segovia, Spain. With a solemn Eucharistic celebration in the Church of the Rosary at the Royal site of La Granja (Segovia, Spain), we concluded our memorial of the 150 years of the “Great Grace” granted to our Father Founder (Autobiography nº 694). The event was organized by the General Prefecture of Spirituality.

The 17th of September, at noon, some sixty Claretians, Claretian Sisters, Cordimarians, Lay Claretians, and other friends of the Congregation met in the above-mentioned temple. Fr. Josep Maria Abella, CMF, General Superior, presided over the celebration, assisted by Fr. Emmanuel Edeh, CMF, Consultor of the General Government and Fr. Manuel Tamargo, CMF, Superior of the Province of Santiago, who hosted the great event, which included the Major Superiors of the Spanish Provinces.

Among the Claretian Missionaries were the participants of the Symposium “Eucharist -Life” that, with this occasion, had been given from the 12th to the 17th of September in the house of spirituality, “Saint John of the Cross”, in the same city of Segovia (the respective chronicles can be seen in the webpage of “the Forge”: http://www.lafraguacmf.org). Also present were the participants in the “Encounter with Claret 2011”, which concluded its first stage in our Mother House at Vic and has now been moved for the second part to Colmenar Viejo (Madrid). Along with them, there were concelebrants from members of the communities of Segovia and other nearby houses. The lively liturgical celebration reflected the international diversity of the community of Colmenar Viejo.

Just prior, at 10 a.m., Fr. Gonzalo Fernandez, CMF, General Prefect of Spirituality, had summoned all to the auditorium in the house at Segovia. Besides explaining the meaning of this encounter, the participants were invited to view an audio-visual presentation of the artistic and Eucharistic work of our brother, Maximino Cerezo Barredo, CMF, and to witness a theological interpretation of the “Great Grace”, exhibited skillfully by José Cristo Rey García Paredes, CMF.

After the solemn Eucharistic celebration, again in the house at Segovia, a fraternal banquet was held. We were all filled with a desired to return to our missions to make present in our daily life the gift of the celebrated memorial. (Photo)
