Claretian Community of Pereira Receives an Award

Pereira, Colombia. The Governor of Risaralda (Colombia), Víctor Manuel Tamayo Vargas, awarded the ”Official Order of the Great Cross of Risaralda” to the Community of the Claretian Missionaries of Pereira as a recognition of their civic, patriotic, and charitable services.

The Decree #983 of the 27th of October 2011 was received by Fr. Alfredo Plaza Mora, CMF, pastor, on the occasion of the 50 years since the erection of the Parish which has as its headquarters the Church of St. Anthony Mary Claret.With this gesture the labor of this community was recognized, since its beginnings, as working for those most in need, maintaining alive the legacy of their evangelical mission.

During the event, Governor Tamayo Vargas recognized the importance of the work that this community has done for 94 years in its ministry to invalids, The San Miguel Press, the Circulating Library of the Heart of Mary, the Cemetery of St. Camillus, the House of Youth, and their participation in the construction of the Matecaña Airport.
