Claretian Gathering in Rome for the Feast of Saint Joseph

Mar 22, 2026 | General Houses

Rome, Italy. On March 19th, 2026, the Claretian missionaries living in the five communities of Rome, following tradition, gathered at the facilities of the General Curia for their meeting in celebration of the feast of Saint Joseph, co-patron and protector of the congregation and patron of the General Curia. Members of the different missionary communities in the city took part, along with some lay collaborators involved in the various services of the host house. It must be acknowledged that it was a pleasant gathering, marked by a spirit of fraternity and the characteristic joy of those who live the Claretian charism openly and joyfully through their fundamental vocation, contributing to the congregation through their person and culture.

The meeting unfolded in three significant moments, each aimed at highlighting the gift received and the experience of continuing to walk together as a community. A dialogue emerged from the most recent experiences lived within the congregation and accompanied by the General Government, especially highlighting the meeting of the “Major Superiors” in Sri Lanka. This provided some insight into the reality of the congregation, the experience of the gathering, as well as the challenges and hopes in view of the 27th General Chapter, encouraging dialogue through questions, doubts, and clarifications between the General Government and those present. There was also time to share in prayer, united with the whole Church, reaffirming a sense of protection through the intercession of Saint Joseph. The table became the focus of the third moment—a space not only to nourish the body, but also to strengthen fraternal bonds in light of the mission.

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity” (Psalm 133:1). This is the thanksgiving offered to the Father for this new experience of sharing among brothers from many parts of the world who have chosen to follow Jesus in the style of Claret, opting for life – a dignified life where peace and justice prevail.
