Claretian Missions Day

Apr 19, 2012 | Claretian Family, Euskal Herria, Mission Alive

Bilbao, Spain. The Pastoral Team of the Heart of Mary and St. Raphael’s celebrated the annual campaign for the Claretian Missions from the 19th to the 25th of March.

This year, in an act of solidarity, it was proposed to help the “Home of the Heart of Mary”, a home for high school boys in the District of Atalaya, Peru.

The House, served by the Claretian Missionaries, needs support for the current infrastructure that takes care of 12 boys, and for an extension that will make it capable of accommodating up to 50 residents. The support is increased for the cost of school supplies and food. In addition is the collaboration of other schools and parishes of the Province of Euskal Herria for this campaign.

The response to this Pastoral Appeal has been good. Despite the economic crisis it has raised €512. However, the aim is not only economic, but also to raise awareness, sensitize, and set in motion parish groups and people beyond our borders.

Among the more significant acts of the campaign were talks with catechetical and youth groups, the presentation of the project to parish groups, and the “pintxo solidarity” held in the old Church of the Heart of Mary, now the Museum of Reproductions. Proclade also mounted an exhibition on the life of the Mission of North of North of Potosí. They also held a ‘solidary flea market’ on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th.
