Commitment to Growth and Development: Missionaries in Ongoing Formation

Feb 13, 2023 | General Curia

Rome, Italy: The Claretian Missionaries of the General Curia celebrated their monthly meeting of ongoing formation on February 11th, marking the anniversary of the approval of the Congregation’s Constitutions by the Holy See.

Fr. Juan José Gutiérrez Quinteros, a graduate in biblical theology from the Gregorian University of Rome, led the community in a deeper understanding of the Gospel according to St. Matthew, which holds a central place in the Sunday celebrations. During the meeting, the community also delved into the letter “Desiderio desideravi” and the preparation for the synodal assembly on synodality.

The first session of 2023 featured a special guest, Cardinal Aquilino Bocos, who answered questions from the audience on the Church, the situation of religious life, and the recent history and future of the Congregation.

In the next session, scheduled for March 11th, participants will hear firsthand about the current reality of the Congregation in three nations from different continents. The session will also celebrate the creation of seven Claretian provinces in Africa and America in 1923.

The Claretians of the Curia dedicate one Saturday a month for this purpose, dedicating an hour and a half to ongoing formation. Despite the small sacrifices, the experience is usually positive and enriching in the long run. The ongoing formation of the Claretian Missionaries of the General Curia serves as a reminder of their commitment to growth and development in their ministry and service to the Church.
