Abuja, Nigeria. From November 2 to 8, 2025, members of the Prefectures for Bible Ministry and Communication of ACLA (African Claretians) gathered at the Institute of Consecrated Life in Africa (InCLA) in Abuja for a week-long assembly focused on the theme: “ACLA Biblical Ministry in the Service of Justice and Hope.” The event was organized by Fr. Henry Omonisaye, CMF, General Prefect of Bible and Communication.
Held in the context of Africa’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage, yet amid realities marked by poverty, injustice, and social tensions, the assembly underscored the transformative power of the Word of God as a source of renewal and conscience formation to confront contemporary challenges.
The gathering marked a significant step forward for the African Claretian community, as participants worked to integrate biblical ministry concretely into diverse areas of mission, including the education of children, evangelization through media, family accompaniment, conflict resolution, and digital ministry. Through these initiatives, the participants emphasized the central role of Scripture in promoting justice and peace across the continent.
Concrete proposals were developed to guide each ACLA structure in crafting a contextualized and effective pastoral plan, aimed at making biblical ministry more relevant to local realities.
To achieve this vision, delegates highlighted the need for solid biblical formation, creative missionary approaches, and special attention to younger generations. They also called for the prudent and effective use of media and artificial intelligence as emerging tools for evangelization and social transformation.
