CONCLUSION OF 100 HOURS ONLINE COURSE ON THE THEOLOGY OF CONSECRATED LIFE

The Institute of Consecrated Life (ICL) – Sanyasa has concluded the 100 hours online course conducted for the consecrated persons in India and abroad. As the whole world is affected by Covid-19, educational institutions need to be smart and innovative. Making use of online facilities available, ICL introduced innovative ways of reaching out to consecrated persons and offering them on-going formation programs online besides its regular offline programs for the academic year 2021-2022. Thus, the introduction of the novel online 100 hours course on the Theology of Consecrated Life. 14 courses were taught and they covered all the basic aspects — consecration, communion and mission — of the theology of consecrated life besides courses on psycho-spiritual integration, affective maturity, Christological foundation of consecrated life and consecrated life in Church documents.

The students were given the option of doing the entire course or opt for only the courses of their choices. Altogether, there were about 175 students and some of them joined as groups while the others attended individually. The classes began on 3rd July, 2021 with the introductory session of two hours animated by Rev. Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, the Superior General on the theme, “The Significance of Consecrated Life Today”. The classes were conducted on the Zoom platform every week-end from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm. The program came to an end on 26th December 2021. Generally, the students were very happy with the entire course and the evaluation was very positive and encouraging.
