Rome, Italy. On March 1, the Formation Program for New Major Superiors of our Congregation and for those who, although not new, had not participated in the previous editions of the formation program concluded.

In this edition participated the Superiors of the Provinces and Delegations of Antillas, Bangalore, Cameroun, Colombia Oriental-Ecuador, Colombia-Venezuela, Congo, Indonesia-Timor Leste, Kolkata, Korea, Mãe da África, Phillipines, St. Charles Lwanga and St. Joseph Vaz. Two groups were formed for this occasion. One group was made up of French and English speakers and the other of Spanish and Portuguese speakers.

The online sessions were held on Mondays, February 1, 8, 15, 22 and March 1, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm (Rome local time) for the French and English speakers, and from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm (Rome local time) for the Spanish and Portuguese speakers. In addition to the online moments of meeting and shared reflection, the program included individual time for reading and reflection based on the indications and study proposals previously indicated by the program facilitators.

The members of the General Government designed and animated each and every one of the sessions of the training program. In its design, the suggestions and proposals of all the Major Superiors of our Congregation were duly taken into account. Some of the perspectives and themes that were addressed were, for example, the spiritual keys of Christian leadership and of the Claretian Superior, the animation of missionary life, economy, the exercise of government, the importance of the Major Superior in the initial and ongoing formation of the Organism, some questions of the ordinary functioning of the Major Superior (practices of government with the people and minor organisms), the intercultural dimension, discernment, among others.

All the perspectives and themes were situated within the horizon established by the three congregational processes of transformation agreed in the previous General Chapter. The evaluation carried out on March 1, at the end of this program, besides thanking the realization of this formation initiative, offered some suggestions and proposals – future analogous formative editions, a formation directed to the members of the Councils of the Provincial Governments, that the General Government will evaluate later on.
