Fr. Vicente Sanz Tobes, CMF: New General Archivist

Rome, Italy. Superior General, Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, in a letter signed and given on the 15th of June 2019 in Rome appointed Fr. Vicente Sanz Tobes, CMF as the new General Archivist for three years, effective today, July 1, 2019. Fr. Vicente replaces the post of Fr. Julio García Martín who will return to the Province of Santiago.

Fr. Vicente, born on the 13th of October 1945 First Professed on the 15th of August 1962 in Ciudad Real (Spain) and studied Philosophy in Segovia from 1962 to 1966. He then made his Final Vows on the 13th of May 1967 in Rome during his second year of Theological Studies at the Claretianum (1966-1969). He took his Licentiate in Theology at the Lateranum University in Rome from 1969 to 1970. He was ordained a Priest on the 17th of May 1970 in Rome. The he studied Bachelor of Political and Social Sciences in Rome and in Madrid. He was assigned as formator in Segovia and then professor of Claret School of Madrid for five years. Then he became Local Superior of Aranda de Duero (1980 – 1986) and during this time he was elected Prefect of Apostolate of the then Province of Castilla (now part of Santiago Province) and served from 1986 to 1995. Then he was elected as Provincial Superior and served for nine years (1995 to 2003). In 2003 he was elected as General Prefect of Apostolate. In 2010 he was appointed as Parish Priest of the Parish-Basilica of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Rome. In 2015 he was appointed as the General Mission Procurator (until 2018) and Local Superior of the General Curia up to date.
