INAUGURATION OF 100 HOURS ONLINE COURSE ON BIBLE STUDY

As we are still at the clutches of covid-19, it is important to be innovative and creative as ministers of the Word. Though The Institute of Consecrated Life (ICL) – Sanyasa is an institute which focuses mainly on the theology of consecrated life, it cannot ignore the fact that the Bible is the solid foundation for consecrated persons. This has prompted the it (ICL), managed by Claretians, to explore all possibilities of diffusing the knowledge of the Word to the world.

In this context, ICL – Sanyasa has introduced a new 100 hours online course on Bible study in the academic year 2021-22. The course began on 8th January 2022. It was officially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Henry Omonisaye, CMF, the vicar general and in-charge for the Bible ministry in the congregation. As a biblical scholar, Fr. Henry Omonisaye gave a powerful inaugural speech stressing the importance of the Word in the life of Christians. Rev. Fr. Sabu Koottarappallil, CMF, the president and provincial of Bangalore province encouraged the participants with his wonderful felicitation address.

The classes are offered online using zoom platform in the week-ends from 6.00 to 8.00 pm. The course will run till 2nd July, 2022, having altogether 100 hours of lectures. The course begins with introduction to the Bible and continues with the exposition of all the corpus of the Bible. There are totally about 75 students including twenty-five novices from two congregations and a few lay faithful. The students can do the entire course or choose only the courses of their choice.
