Abuja, Nigeria. The Institute of Consecrated Life in Africa (InCLA) marked two major events in June 2025: the blessing of its newly completed Retreat Centre and commissioning of a new Chapel project on June 10, followed by a two-day canonical visit of Br. Carlos Verga, CMF, Prefect of Youth and Vocation Ministry, from June 15 to 17.
The blessing and commissioning ceremony, attended by friends and collaborators—including a delegation from Veritas University led by FrHyacinth Ichoku—was presided over by His Lordship, Most Rev. Anselm Umoren, MSP, Auxiliary Bishop of Abuja. The Mass included the installation of the tabernacle and a thanksgiving procession. Fr Peter Okonkwo, CMF, Director of InCLA, expressed gratitude to all benefactors, while Fr Gregory Ezeokeke, CMF, presented a gift to the bishop on behalf of the community.
Br. Carlos Verga’s canonical visit was another highlight for InCLA. Welcomed warmly on June 15 by the Institute’s leadership and students, his presence brought joy and spiritual encouragement. He spent time in personal and group interactions, offering guidance and listening to the community’s experiences. A symbolic gift was also presented to him by Fr Ezeokeke, CMF.
