Jun 25, 2019 | Chennai, Institutes of Consecrated Life

Dindigul, Inde. 24th June 2012 was yet another landmark in the annals of Lay Institute for the Formation of Evangelizers (LIFE).
From 2004 onwards, LIFE has been rendering yeomen service by forming lay people as evangelizers for the Church of Tamil Nadu.

On 24th June 2012, another twenty persons from nine parishes of Dindigul diocese were graduated as lay evangelizers and accepted as such by Rev. Fr. K.S. Arockiasamy, the Vicar General of the diocese of Dindigul in the presence family members, lay evangelizers and Friends of Claret Bible Club.

In the Holy Mass, there was a special ceremony where they came forward and offered themselves for the service of preaching the Gospel. They were provided missionary cross and certificate of recognition.

The Vicar General lauded this joint venture of the Claretians and Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. This is the fourth batch of the lay evangelizers formed at LIFE. The training programme for the fourth batch began on 22nd August 2010. This training was done in a spirit of shared mission with sisters of the Immaculate Conception. Sr. Miriam who was actively involved in forming lay evangelizers in the diocese of Sivagangai has been collaborating with us closely for the last four years.

So far, LIFE has formed 159 lay evangelizers for the Archdiocese of Madurai and the diocese of Dindigul. It is gladdening to note that most of them are rendering evangelizing service regularly under the guidance of Fr. Devaraj, the Dindigul diocese Secretary for Evangelization. “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Rom 10:15).
