Kinshasa, DR Congo. The Independent Delegation of Congo of the Claretian Missionaries held its sixth Assembly from August 3 to 9, 2025, at the Philosophate of the Missionaries of Africa in Mont Ngafula, Kimbondo. Under the theme “Missionaries of Hope: Let Us Commit Ourselves Together towards a Well-Structured Organism, Bearer of Joy and Future”, the gathering brought together 54 perpetually professed members. It was a privileged moment to evaluate the Delegation’s journey and to chart new directions for its mission and apostolate.
The Assembly opened with a procession and enthronement of the Word of God, followed by a day of recollection and the opening Mass on Monday, presided over by Bishop Crispin Kimbeni Kikanda of the Diocese of Kisantu. Throughout the sessions, the participants carefully reviewed the reports presented by the different structures of the Delegation.
The most anticipated moment came on Wednesday, August 6, at 6:13 p.m., with the announcement of the new Government of the Delegation. The following were appointed:
- Fr. Tryphon Bimbangu, CMF: Major Superior
- Br. Baudouin Mwanangulu, CMF: Consultor and Bursar
- Fr. Jean Paul Malu, CMF: Consultor
- Fr. Placide Sumbula, CMF: Consultor
- Fr. Pierre Héritier Kambidi, CMF: Consultor
The oath-taking of the new Major Superior, Fr. Tryphon Bimbangu, CMF, took place in the chapel, marking a solemn moment of unity and joy. This fraternal spirit animated the participants until the end of the Assembly, as they discerned, dreamed, and made commitments for the life and pastoral mission of the Delegation over the next three years.
The closing Mass of thanksgiving, presided over by Fr. Henry Omonisaye, CMF, Vicar General and President of the Assembly, on Saturday, August 9, sealed the conclusion of the event. The participants returned renewed in their hope and missionary commitment.
