Rome. The Christ of Formation intends to be a biblical and theological manual of formation for religious life. It is presented by Card. Franc Rodé, Prefect of the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life. From him we take this paragraph: It is worth to highlight above all the harmony of these two decisive characteristics of the book: the reality with which the exegesis of the evangelical texts has been carried out (cf DV 19) and the care with which the criterion of “feeling with the Church” has been put into practice (VC 46). In fact, in full respect for the rigour of the norms of the biblical exegesis and in perfect harmony with the Magisterium of the Church, the “evangelical basis” (VC 14) of Consecrated Life, which is doubtless Christological, is painstakingly explained, and sought in the special relationship that Jesus, in his earthly existence, established with some of his disciples, by inviting them to put their own existence at the service of this cause, leaving everything behind and closely imitating his own “way of life” (VC 14).
