New Claretian Deacon Ordained in Valencia after 33 years

Valencia, Spain. In a joyous ceremony held on Saturday, 25 February 2023, the parish of Fuensanta in Valencia witnessed the ordination of a new Claretian Deacon, Rev. Carlos Puerto, CMF. This was a significant moment for the Claretians as no ordinations had taken place in Valencia since 1990.

The ceremony began at 6 pm with a festive atmosphere marked by the noise of firecrackers and firecrackers, which are typical of the region. The event was attended by relatives, friends, and Claretians from different houses.

Fr. Adolfo Lamata, CMF, Provincial Superior of Santiago, welcomed everyone present and thanked them for attending the ceremony. The youth group of the school of Benimaclet animated the choir.

The Ordaining Prelate, Mgr. Luis Ángel de las Heras, CMF, encouraged Deacon Puerto to live his life as a servant of the brothers, always ready to offer the Word and to offer himself to the neediest, always remembering to be in communion with the pastors.

In his response, Rev. Puerto thanked those present and expressed his desire to be faithful to the vocation he had received. He stated,

“Let us continue to serve the one who sends us so that his love may set the world on fire.”

The Province of Santiago of the Claretian Missionaries, includes houses in different countries, including Spain, France, Russia, and Switzerland.
