Novitiate Begins at Nongmensong and Professions of Claretian Students of Northeast India Delegation During the Time of Pandemic

Nongmensong, India. On May 30, 2020, seven aspirants of Northeast India Independent Delegation, after having completed their regency, started their Novitiate at Christu Nivas, Nongmensong, Shillong. Fr. Pius Thuruthiyil, CMF, Delegation Major Superior accepted them.

Due to the current situation in India caused by the pandemic, the five Indian Organisms decided to have separate novitiate houses tentatively. They will have different appointed tentative Novice Masters and implement a simultaneously coordinated novitiate program in their respective Organisms. Fr. Johnson Thurackal, CMF, joyfully accepted the responsibility and the appointment to be the Novice Master and to guide the Northeast India Novices until they go to Claret Bhavan, Carmelaram in Bangalore when the situation finally permits.

The following day, May 31, 2020, four students, namely, Maria Shibu, Samuel Kandula, Nobin Panna, and Naveen Bunga, made their Perpetual Vows in the hands of their Major Superior, Fr. Pius Thuruthiyil, CMF at Claret Villa.

Likewise, Novices Shanborlang Lyngdoh, Francis Thomas, Teimon Sohkhlet, Ricky Dhkar, Christopher Lakra ad Justin Langi made their First Profession in the hands of Fr. George Mattam, CMF. Eight students from NEID renewed their profession for one more year in the congregation on the same day.
