One hundred years at the service of Consecrated Life

Dec 5, 2008 | Institutes of Consecrated Life

Rome. The Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CIVCSVA) has celebrated one hundred years of its foundation with a congress whose only reporter has been the Claretian Fr. Aquilino Bocos Merino, who could not be present for reasons of health. For this event he prepared an extensive and well documented report, which will be published by the Congregation, of which only a summary was read. The celebration of this centennial, according to Fr. Bocos, wants to be a song of praise to the Holy Spirit, who continues making grow in the church successive forms of consecrated life; an opportunity to recognize and express the gratitude to so many persons who have collaborated with the Holy Father accompanying, orienting and encouraging the life of the Institutes, and a way to renew the hope that the CIVCSVA will continue being a place of encounter, the house of all and a bridge of communion for the consecrated in the Church, from which they may feel strengthened in their evangelizing mission.

Card. Franc Rodé, Pefect of the CIVCSVA, presided over the celebration, and the Secretary of State, Emmo. Card Tarcisio Bertone was also present.
