Preparations For the Spirituality Congress Ensue

Jan 16, 2023 | Spirituality and Community Life

ROME, ITALY. A Spirituality Congress is part of the activities for the celebration of the 175th foundation anniversary of the Congregation in 2024. The General Government created a preparatory commission headed by the General Prefect of Spirituality and Community Life, Fr. Carlos Sanchez Miranda. Members of the Commission are Fr. Juan Carlos Martos (Director of Center of Claretian Spirituality), Fr. Gonzalo Fernández, (Director of Publicaciones Claretianas en Madrid), Fr. Anthony Igbokwe, (Prefect of Spirituality of Santiago Province) Fr. Edgardo Guzmán (Superior of Claretianum in Rome) and Fr.  Efren Limpo Lo, (Secretary General).

The commission is tasked primarily to animate a Congregation-wide encounter whereby reflections and experiences will be shared about our missionary spirituality. The first Spirituality Congress took place in Majadahonda, Spain in 2001 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Congregation.

The commission had its second meeting in January 13-14, 2023, in the Council Hall of the General Curia in Rome. Besides the framework set by the General Government, they reflected and discussed new ways of celebrating this important event that will ensure greater participation and involvement of the whole Congregation. More to it, the meeting was made richer with the intervention of Cardinal Aquilino Bocos, CMF (former Superior General) who generously offered valuable insights on the way to proceed.  The two-day meeting also included a discussion on organizational and logistical concerns. At the conclusion of their meeting, concrete proposals were made and will be presented to the General Government for approval.
