Provincial Chapter of Santiago Begins

Los Negrales, Madrid (Spain). On December 27, 2012 at 6pm the sessions of the II Provincial Chapter of the Claretian Province of Santiago began. Presiding was Fr. Josep M. Abella, CMF, Superior General of the Congregation.

He was accompanied at the presidential table by Fr. Manuel Tamargo, CMF, Provincial Superior and Fr. Pedro Belderráin, CMF Provincial Secretary at which time was replaced by Fr. José Ma. Vegas, CMF who was elected Chapter Secretary.

It has been nine years since the beginning of the reorganization of this major Province, six years as the “Province of Santiago”. Because of this, in his opening remarks, Fr. General after congratulating the Province for the journey thus travelled, shared various points for their discernment and situated the work of the chapter work within the horizon of Europe and the New Evangelization. He also thanked them for their services to the universal mission of the Congregation in various areas.

Later the Chapter proceeded to its internal organization and the discernment that relates to it.

On January 2nd at 7 pm they will have a Eucharistic celebration followed by a meal with the Claretians present and members of the Claretian family who wish to participate.
