Dec 8, 2009 | Education Ministry, México

México. Last October the Institute of Philosophy (IFFIM) of Guadalajara, with the status of a University, wanted to pay homage to four professors, among them the Claretian Fr. Enrique Marroquín, to acknowledge their academic trajectory. The Claretian community was represented by its Provincial Superior, Fr. Alejandro Cerón, the provincial Prefect of Apostolate and the Fathers and students of the Community.

The Director of the Institute said a few words of gratitude to the four honourees and a video was presented with a summary of the career of each one.

In his response, Fr. Marroquín spoke about how the dedication to intellectual work implies contemplative attitudes of the reality, love of truth and the practice of several virtues (humility, fortitude, detachment, discipline and certain degree of austerity, etc.)

The Director also emphasized the rich pastoral and teaching experience of Fr. Marroquín, underlining his commitment to the poor.

The academic formation of Fr. Marroquín implies a degree in philosophy, another one in anthropology and a doctorate in social sciences. He is the author of a about ten books, both in social sciences and in theological reflections. He specialized in the study of religion from the viewpoint of human sciences; he has taught in several seminaries and universities of Mexico and participates in organizations and congresses on the theme.
