Laipharok Maring, Manipur. August 24, 2024, was a milestone for the Church in Manipur and the Claretians of Northeast India Delegation with the formal erection of St. Thomas Parish at Laipharok Maring Village and the blessing of its presbytery. The ceremonies were led by Archbishop Linus Neli of Imphal, joined by Archbishop Emeritus Dominic Lumon and Fr. Joseph Mappilaparambil, CMF, Provincial Superior.
The day included the blessing of the presbytery, the inauguration of the parish, and the installation of its first Parish Priest. During the Eucharistic celebration, 63 faithful received First Communion and 20 were confirmed. In his homily, Archbishop Neli urged the community to remain rooted in the sacraments and thanked the Claretians for their missionary dedication.
The celebration concluded with a felicitation program and community meal, marking a joyful beginning for the new parish.
