Jul 3, 2010 | Causes of Saints, Claretian Family, Fernan-Seguenza-Tarragona

Vatican City. On July 1st the Vatican information service announced that the Holy Father has authorized the Congregation for the Causes of Saints to promulgate the “Decree on the martyrdom” of the Claretian martyrs of Sigüenza and Fernán Caballero. At the same time the “Decree on the heroic virtues” of the Claretian Servant of God María Teresa Albarracín was announced.

The Vatican Information Service says it with these words:

“The Holy Father received this morning the Archbishop Angelo Amato, S.D.B., prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints and, during the audience, he authorized the dicastery to promulgate the decrees relative to (…):

MARTYRDOM: -Servants of God José María Ruiz Cano, Jesús Aníbal Gómez Gómez, Tomás Cordero and 13 companions of the Congregation of the Missionaries Sons of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary; killed out of hatred for the faith during the religious persecution in Spain in 1936. (…).

HEROIC VIRTUES: -Servant of God María Teresa (in the world: María del Carmen Albarracín), Spaniard, (1927-1946), professed religious of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate Claretian Missionary Sisters (…)”.

The cause of our martyrs has come to its end. We only must wait for the date of the Beatification which will be celebrated together with the Servants of God that integrate a group of 33 causes, the majority of which is still under study. While waiting for this date, let us celebrate the happy news by thanking God for these our brothers whom the Church has recognized as faithful and heroic witnesses of their faith.

On the other hand, the cause of the Claretian María Teresa Albarracín will have to wait for the authentication of a miracle performed with the intercession of the Servant of God.
