Bengaluru, India. The twenty-fourth academic year of the Institute of Consecrated Life – Sanyasa was flagged off on Saturday, July 5, 2025, with a votive Mass of the Holy Spirit followed by the Inaugural Act. Rev. Fr. Sabu George, the president of the Institute, presided over the Mass, delivered the inaugural address, and declared the academic year open. In the current year, there are six students for the licentiate course and 24 for the year-long diploma course.
In his welcome address, Fr. Paulson Veliyannoor, the director, highlighted that over the last 23 years, ICLS has served a consecrated population of 3,167 persons. Thus, on an average, 138 religious study at ICLS every year. Of these 86.6% are women religious. Last year alone, Sanyasa served 891 religious, including the programs offered over the online platform. Fr. Michael Plamparambil, institute secretary, presented the various long- and short-term courses planned for the new academic year. Besides the licentiate and diploma, there are 12 medium- and short-term courses are on schedule. Fr. George Panthalanickal, superior of ICLS, read out the message from Rev. Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, the Moderator General of Claretian institutes of consecrated life, wishing the Institute community God’s blessings and fruitful ministry in the new year.
In his inaugural address, citing from Veritatis Gaudium, Fr. Sabu reminded the students that the academic formation at Sanyasa is meant to prepare them to be sent—to be living signs of God’s Kingdom and be pilgrims of hope in a world that often seems to have forgotten its ultimate destiny.
