USA-Canada Decennium 2019

May 11, 2019 | Ongoing Formation, USA - Canada

Atlanta, USA. The Decennium group of USA-Canada Province came together on May 6-10, 2019 for their annual gathering and retreat. It took place at the Trappist Monastery of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit outside of Atlanta, Georgia. The sessions were led by Fr David Songy, OFM Cap. Our Claretian brothers used this fraternal time to share about the joys and challenges of their ministerial lives. Fr David led them in reflections about living authentically through ongoing formation, looking at their vows again, handling crisis, avoiding burnout, coping with the present Church crisis and asking ourselves “What does the Congregation hope for us?” Their common ground with their Capuchin retreat master was the insight that their way of being in the world comes from taking the perspective of the carpenter and the perspective of the poor.

The Decennium group ended their time together with two excursions: 1) Parish of Stone Mountain, Corpus Christi to become more familiar with it and its multicultural community with parishioners from over 60 countries; and 2) the Coca Cola headquarters to taste what Coca Cola products tastes like around the world.
