Using MP3 to Teach English in Vietnam

Oct 24, 2007 | Claret Publishing Group, Fr. Rhoel Gallardo

Vietnam. Since 2002, Claretians in the Philippines have been developing a program for teaching English in Vietnam. The Daily Gospel on MP3 disks is considered an innovative way to teach English – and the government has shown no resistance to the project.

The Daily Gospel 2007 on disks was released on February 17 – on the eve of the lunar new year. The Claretians, Priests of the Sacred Heart and Salesians allowed the free use of their recording studios. A large number of expatriated Vietnamese also lent their support.
For the last three years, the government has also allowed the Claretians to print The Daily Gospel. The Claretians have been in Vietnam since 2002 and are determined to maintain good relations with the government. Twenty missionary congregations, which have come to Vietnam since 2002, maintain as much as contact as possible. “Normally, we meet once a month to pray, share our experiences, enjoy fellowship and offer mutual support. It’s a marvelous community, in which religious with different charisms experience unity in the mission of Christ.”
