Walks of Claret – A Pilgrimage Through Claret’s Rome

May 29, 2025 | St. Anthony Mary Claret

Saint Anthony Mary Claret visited Rome three times during his lifetime. His first visit was in 1839, when he presented himself to the Congregation of Propaganda Fide, offering to be sent anywhere in the world. He returned in 1865 to consult the Holy Father regarding the recognition of the Kingdom of Italy. His third and final visit was in March 1869 to participate in the First Vatican Council.

This video series does not retrace his full journeys, but rather the key places he visited in the Eternal City. That is why we have divided the itinerary into four thematic walks:

  • Tour 1: Discover the place where Claret first met with Fathers Xifré and Fábregas—ten years before the foundation of the Congregation.
  • Tour 2: Visit the significant locations connected to the First Vatican Council.
  • Tour 3: Pause at the site where Claret usually lived, nestled within the Imperial Forums.
  • Tour 4: Take a short walk from Termini Station to the place where both Claret and Clotet made their Jesuit retreats.

The video series will be published soon—stay tuned!
Enjoy this inspiring journey through the footsteps of Claret in Rome!
