XXX Meeting of CECLAB 2019

Batatais, Brazil. The XXX CECLAB – Meeting of the Commission of the Claretian Educators of Brazil, whose theme was Christus vivit, took place on 22, 23 and 24 September, in Batatais, São Paulo. The Provincial Government of the Claretian Missionaries of Brazil, the Claretian missionaries who work in the educational activities, lay directors, pedagogical coordinators, pastoral coordinators and internal and external advisors attended the meeting, totaling up 65 participants.

Claretiano – Rede de Educação (Claretiano – Educational Network) is an institution that brings together all the educational activities of the Claretian Missionaries of Brazil, which comprise: eight schools of basic education (in Batatais, Rio Claro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Taguatinga, Maraba, Boa Vista and São Miguel do Guaporé), two universities (in Batatais and Rio Claro) and three colleges (in Curitiba, where a degree in Theology is offered, in Taguatinga and now in Boa Vista, where a Claretian College has recently been accredited by the Ministry of Education of Brazil).

Claretiano – Rede de Educação currently has more than 37,000 students enrolled in Basic and Higher Education (face-to-face and distance education and postgraduate courses) and more than 2,200 teachers, professors and employees working all over its campuses and its 126 centers of distance education.

At the meeting, several activities were carried out focusing on Basic Education, Higher Education and Pastoral Coordination: there were moments of spirituality; Mass; presentations (including one on Pope Francis’ Document to young people – Christus Vivit) and discussions about school norms, pedagogical and pastoral activities for 2020, changes in educational legislation, the Congregation of the Claretian Missionaries and Pastoral and Social Projects.

During the CECLAB Meeting, the principals of the Claretian schools received the Golden Lion statuette, which is a prominent national prize awarded by Anglo Network. At the time, a representative from Anglo handed the statuettes to the principals. The schools that make use of the Anglo System compete in several categories. This award recognizes the excellent pedagogical work done by this staff that is really committed to offering a quality education based on the Claretian charisma.
