Youth on Fire for Mission: Claret Way in Centroamérica

May 15, 2025 | Youth & Vocations Ministry, Centroamérica

Mixco, Guatemala. From April 30 to May 3, the XII Encounter of the Romero Region of Claret Way America was held at the Claret Retreat House, bringing together 77 young Claretians (JUCLA – Juventud Claretiana) and leaders of the Claretian Youth Vocational Ministry (CYMV) from MCM, RMI, SC, and CMF. It was the first in-person edition held outside El Salvador and served as a key moment to revitalize the youth and missionary life of the Claretian Family in Central America.

The meeting offered formation, testimony, celebration, and discernment. A highlight was the visit to the Human Rights Office of the Archdiocese of Guatemala (ODHAG), where participants deepened their understanding of the country’s historical memory and the martyrdom of Monsignor Juan Gerardi. There were also meaningful experiences such as dialogue with the pastoral agents of Claret Parish and expressions of popular religiosity in Ciudad Peronia.

Workshops focused on digital ministry, missionary volunteer pathways, and “Conversations in the Spirit” in preparation for the upcoming Provincial Chapter of the Claretian Missionaries of Central America. Reflection on the regional context led to concrete commitments rooted in faith and youth engagement.

Joy, prayer, and fraternity enriched the experience. Vocational reflection and missionary spirit left a deep mark on all participants.

The next R+fc will take place in El Salvador in 2026.
