An opportunity to thank God for the gift of the Claretian Mission: Canonical Visit in Santiago Province

Jun 10, 2023 | Santiago, Congregation

Madrid, Spain. The Canonical Visit of Fr. Carlos Sanchez, CMF, and Bro. Carlos Verga, CMF, to the Province of Santiago, concluded on June 6, 2023, after starting on April 10. During their visit, Father Carlos visited Claretian missionaries residing in Salamanca, Aranda o Vallecas, Leon, Galicia (Spain), Paris (France), and Zürich (Switzerland). In contrast, Brother Carlos visited Asturias, Valencia, and Alicante (Spain) and the Province’s missions in Russia.

While on their visit representing the General Superior, they took the opportunity to meet and converse with the missionaries at each Claretian House. In addition, they engaged with Claretian collaborators and educators to better understand their collaboration with the missionaries. The visit also provided insight into the realities and challenges the Claretians of Santiago Province face daily. They have undoubtedly realized how strong the commitment of the members of Santiago Province is to the mission.

For the members, on the other hand, it was not just a matter of reviewing their personal and community projects and their method of carrying them out but also an opportunity, through the visitors, to thank God for the gift of the Claretian Mission.

The canonical visitation offers a special opportunity for communion and connection among the missionaries and collaborators. It serves as a chance to showcase the universality of Claret’s work and highlight the daily efforts of the missionaries in their respective areas of apostolate. The visitation aims to make everyone feel included in the Congregation’s life and foster unity and collaboration.
