On 25 January 2026, the Catholic Church celebrated the Sunday of the Word of God, a special occasion dedicated to renewing the central place of Sacred Scripture in the life of the Church and the Congregation.
As is customary each year, a letter was addressed to the Congregation to mark this celebration. The 2026 letter was co-signed by the Prefects of Spirituality and Community Life, together with those responsible for Bible and Communications. It encouraged and motivated all members of the Congregation to take an active part in the celebration.
The message highlighted three key areas for particular attention: attentive listening to the Word of God, the practice of Lectio Divina, and personal reading of the Scriptures. These elements were proposed as concrete ways to deepen a living and prayerful relationship with the Word.
Across different regions, Claretian communities marked the Sunday of the Word of God in diverse ways and at various times, always keeping the orientations of the letter in mind. In many places, the enthronement of the Bible became a central and symbolic moment of the celebration.
In addition, a series of pastoral and formative activities were organized to help the faithful grow in their understanding and love of Scripture. These initiatives included workshops on prayerful reading of the Word, biblical study sessions, and spiritual retreats, adapted to local contexts in different parts of the world.
Through these celebrations and activities, the Congregation renewed its commitment to place the Word of God at the heart of personal, community, and missionary life.
