Claretians Around the World Unite for Earth Hour 2025

Mar 31, 2025 | Solidarity & Mission, UN Presence

On March 22, 2025, at 8:30 PM local time, Claretian communities around the world joined millions of people in observing Earth Hour, the largest global movement for environmental awareness. Under the slogan “Give 60 Minutes to Our Mother Earth,” the event emphasized the urgent need to address climate change and biodiversity loss.

From bustling cities to remote mission stations, Claretian communities marked the hour with meaningful activities such as prayer services, candle-lit reflections, tree-planting events, and ecological awareness campaigns. Inspired by Laudato Si’ and the Claretian charism, this moment of solidarity reinforced the Congregation’s commitment to integral ecology.

The participation of 22 Major Organisms in 21 countries, including the General Curia in Rome, demonstrated the unity and dedication of the Claretian family. Notably, the Major Organisms of Rhoel Gallardo, Padre Xifré, and John Paul II led coordinated efforts across their jurisdictions, turning Earth Hour into a transformative communal experience. The Claretian Team at the UN received over 450 photos from missions worldwide, capturing the spirit of ecological conversion alive in every corner of the Congregation’s mission.

More than just a symbolic gesture, Earth Hour 2025 became a catalyst for long-term ecological action among Claretians. It reinforced that caring for creation is central to their mission, inspiring ongoing advocacy, climate education, and sustainable community initiatives. With renewed commitment, the Claretian family eagerly anticipates Earth Hour 2026, scheduled for March 28, ready to further their pledge to care for our common home.
