Communities of Hope: Claretians at HLPF 2026

Aug 1, 2026 | UN Presence

New York, United States. From 7 to 15 July 2026, Claretian Missionaries and their partners participated in the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, bringing the experiences of communities from the peripheries into global discussions on human dignity, sustainability and care for our common home.

The Forum reviewed progress on water and sanitation, clean energy, sustainable infrastructure and cities, and global partnerships. Thirty-six countries presented Voluntary National Reviews, including ten countries where Claretians are present.

Twenty-four Claretians also completed a six-month formation programme organized by the Justice Coalition of Religious. The training strengthened their knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals and prepared them to monitor national progress and share local testimonies.

Br. Joel Gaspar Beltrame, CMF, Fr. Henry Ramírez, CMF, and Fr. Rohan Dominic, CMF, participated in person.

On 10 July, PROCLADE International and five partner religious congregations organized the hybrid event “Communities of Hope: Advancing Human Dignity and Development for Sustainable Futures.” Held at the Church Center for the United Nations and online, it highlighted the contribution of faith communities to education, peacebuilding, migration accompaniment, Indigenous rights, environmental care and social inclusion.

Fondazione Proclade Internazionale also submitted a written statement to the UN Economic and Social Council, calling for stronger social protection, community participation, locally rooted livelihoods and transparent governance.

The Claretian presence at HLPF 2026 expressed a shared missionary commitment to building a more just, inclusive and sustainable world.
