Soubré, Ivory Coast. Perhaps we are close to the end of the crisis that has hammered this country with violence. On the 11th of April legal powers were given to Alassane Ouattara, the legitimately elected President, assisted by the armed forces of France and the UN, who arrested the ex-president Laurent Gbagbo. The ex-President, obstinately holding-on to his power, was entrenched for more than a week at his residence which had been transformed into a bunker.
Nevertheless, he still lived despite onslaughts of death and destruction. From Soubré, one of the Claretian missions in this country, Fr. Las Zbigniew, CMF, wrote a dramatic letter to Fr. General to keep him abreast of the sufferings of this people.
