Vic, Spain. On Friday, August 5, 2022, the members of the 1st Provincial Chapter of Sanctus Paulus Province elected Fr. Juan Martín Askaiturrieta Ezkurdia, CMF, as the new Provincial Superior of Sanctus Paulus for 2022 – 2028.
Fr. Juan Martín, 46, was born on June 10, 1976, in San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa (Spain). He entered the Novitiate on September 8, 1995, in Loja, Granada (Spain), and made his First Profession on September 14, 1996, in San Sebastián in the hands of Fr. Ramón Najarro, CMF. He made his Final Profession on June 7, 2003, in Lejona in the hands of Fr. Joseba Kamiruaga, CMF. He was ordained a priest on October 21, 2006, in Lejona by Cardinal Archbishop Ricardo Blázquez Pérez, then Bishop of the Diocese of Bilbao and President of the Episcopal Conference of Spain.
He took Bachelor in Theology and then studied Licentiate in Catechetics at the Institute of St. Pius X in Madrid (September 2010-2012). Furthermore, he became the Local Superior, educator, and member of the Pastoral Team of Claret School of Askartza in 2012. He was elected Consultor and Prefect of Apostolate and in charge of the Children-Youth Vocational Ministry of the then Province of Euskal Herria on December 29, 2015. He also served as the Vicar Provincial of Euskal Herria Province. When Euskal Herria merged with Catalunya, France, and Italy to form the now Sanctus Paulus Province, he was appointed Regional Delegate of the Province (2020-2021).
