Melong II, Cameroon. In a bid to move in sync with the entire congregation, the Claretian Missionaries of Cameroun Independent Delegation launched the first part of its Claretian Discerning Leadership Workshop for its members. This training took place on the 20th of October 23 2023, after a fruitful spiritual retreat on synodality and fraternity.
The workshop had two essential moments: the enthronement of the Word of God and a series of conferences on the first three modules of the training. The moderator, Fr. Martin Ndi Nkoumou, CMF, presided over the Bible enthronement ceremony. Basing his reflection on 1Co 4, 10-16, Father Martin stressed the need to let oneself be guided by the Holy Spirit who brings together, inspires, leads and strengthens men in their faith and their fidelity to God.
The enthronement of the Bible was directly followed by the introduction of the formation by the Major Superior, Fr. Jude Thaddeus Langeh, CMF. In his remarks, he reiterated the importance of this training for every Claretian because everyone is called to be a leader at their level, according to the mission that the Congregation gives them. He also specified that the training on Claretian Discerning Leadership includes 12 modules.
The first modules which focused on the context of leadership, leadership according to the model of Jesus Christ and Claret as a leader were presented by Frs. Augustin Nkoto, Honore Kenfack and Conrad Atangana, respectively CMFF. It is good to note that it was not only about training, but also a moment of exchange between brothers, a moment of fraternal communion, and sharing. The missionaries learned from each other and emerged mutually enriched. The formation will continue online and in the different zones in the Delegation in the course of the pastoral year.
