Martyrs Event Celebrated by the Claretian Community in Vavuniya (VAROD)

Vavuniya, Sri Lanka. On October 22nd, the Claretian community in Vavuniya together with the Religious in the vicinity, VAROD staff and inmates, and the Pampaimadu parish community celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass for the beatification of the 109 Claretian martyrs. The Eucharist was presided by the Apostolic Administrator of the diocese of Mannar Rt. Rev. Dr. Kingsley Swampillai. A large gathering of people attended the Mass and took part in the refreshments that followed. The 7.30 Mass was celebrated at the Divine Mercy Shrine, Pampaimadu, Vavuniya.

VAROD is a project run by the Claretians to care for the war victims especially those physically and mentally challenged.
