Medellín, Colombia. Within the framework of the International Congress Pedagogy and Critical Humanities, held from September 25 to 27, 2025, at Luis Amigó Catholic University, the Faculty of Education and Humanities paid a special tribute to Claretian Missionary Fr. Gonzalo María De la Torre Guerrero, CMF. The distinction highlighted “his ethical and social commitment, his contribution to educational transformation, his valuable guidance and formation of others, his significant trajectory in educational processes, and his constant innovation in pedagogical practices that strengthen and enrich the educational mission.”
The tribute to Fr. Gonzalo was experienced with gratitude and admiration, recognizing in him the fidelity to the Claretian spirit, characterized by the passion to teach, accompany, and sow hope wherever the mission has taken him. His service, both humble and profound, has touched the lives of many, opening paths of humanity and Kingdom within the field of education.
“This recognition is also a sign of what inspires our Claretian vocation: to work with all our strength for humanization, sparing no sacrifice, like the fire that burns and spreads,” the organizers recalled, evoking the words of St. Anthony Mary Claret in his Autobiography (no. 494).
The Claretian community, giving thanks to God for the life and mission of Fr. Gonzalo, sees in this gesture an encouragement to continue committing to an education with a human face and an evangelical heart. The recognition not only honors a remarkable trajectory but also inspires the whole missionary family to renew its educational mission in fidelity to the Gospel.
