Shillong, India. The ASCLA West Apostolate Meet 2026 was held in Shillong from July 29 to August 2, bringing together around 40 participants from the six Major Organisms of India and Sri Lanka. Guided by the theme, “Revisiting Claretian Apostolate in the Asian Context,” the gathering offered a space for reflection, dialogue, and collaboration on the present and future of the Claretian mission in Asia.
The four-day programme featured sessions on Reading the Signs of the Times in South Asia, Claretian Apostolate Today, Biblical Ministry Today, Pastoral and Social Initiatives, Mission Procure within the SOMI Framework, and Migration, Refugees, and the Church’s Pastoral Response.
Through presentations, group discussions, and collaborative activities, participants reflected on emerging pastoral realities and identified practical recommendations for strengthening the Claretian apostolate in the region.
The meeting was organised by the Province of Northeast India through the Prefecture of Apostolate and coordinated by Fr. Joy Pulickal, CMF. Among those present were Fr. Joseph Mappilaparambil, CMF, President of ASCLA West; Fr. Pedro Belderrain, CMF, General Prefect of Apostolate; Fr. Gabriel Ponce, CMF, General Mission Procurator; and several Major Superiors of the participating Organisms.
As part of the gathering, participants visited Claretian communities in and around Shillong and joined a fraternity outing to Cherrapunji, strengthening communion and mutual knowledge among the Organisms.
The meeting concluded with renewed missionary enthusiasm, a stronger commitment to collaboration, and a shared desire to respond faithfully and creatively to the pastoral challenges and opportunities of the Asian context.
