Kupang, Indonesia. On the seventh Sunday of Easter, May 13, 2018, coinciding with the 52nd World Communications Day 2018, the scholastics in Seminari Hati Maria held the “Youth Easter Celebration” with almost four hundred young people from their respective apostolate places of the parishes where they were sent for their weekly apostolate.

The celebration was designed in a beautiful and creative manner by the students and the representative leaders of the youth. The participants were welcomed in a welcoming ceremony with a beautiful “Sumba” traditional dance. They were initiated into this one-day program through the words of “Natoni,” before the Eucharistic celebration. It was then followed by the talk of Fr. Yohanes Darisalib Jeramu, CMF, Delegation in-charge of the Youth and Vocations Ministry of Indonesia-Timor Leste, who helped them deepen in their reflection on one’s life situation as young people using the topic “Christian Love and Joy in the light of the Book of The Song of Salomon.” In the afternoon they had some indoor activities such as Singing the Psalms, dances, etc.

Also present during this celebration was Andreas Sika, priest-collaborator of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Penfui, Kupang, Youth Moderator of the parish. Drawing from the Word of God of the day and from the message of Pope Francis on the occasion of the World Communications Day 2018, Fr. Yoseph Ferdinandus Melo, CMF, the Delegation Secretary, in his homily, encouraged the young participants to continue telling the “Story of our Master” and in giving reason for our hope through true witnessing to the Truth in their day to day life. The participants went home bringing with them the messages of truth and hope in building a multi-face community where inclusiveness binds the multicultural island and nation of Indonesia.
