Chicago, Illinois, USA. From July 24 to 26, 2026, young people from across the Claretian Family of the USA-Canada Province gathered at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Chicago for the first Claretian Youth Encounter. Inspired by the theme “Prophets of Justice,” participants reflected on the Gospel call to become voices of hope, compassion, and justice in everyday life.
Convoked by Rev. Reegan Soosai, CMF, Prefect of Apostolate, the encounter was coordinated by young adults from Chicago and accompanied by Rev. Byron Macias, CMF. Leah Perrault served as guest speaker.
Through workshops, prayer, and shared reflection, participants explored what it means to be prophets of justice today. They were encouraged to recognize that this mission is lived not only through words, but also through acts of mercy, courageous love, and faithful accompaniment.
The weekend also offered moments of fellowship through music, meals, laughter, and the renewal of friendships. A particularly meaningful moment came when participants were invited to wash one another’s feet, experiencing in a concrete way that the call to justice begins with humble service and respect for the dignity of others.
As they returned to their families, parishes, and communities, the young people were encouraged to carry forward the courage to be prophets of justice, bringing hope, compassion, and the love of Christ wherever they are called to serve.
