Pistoia, Italy. The “Giorgio La Pira de la Paz International Peace Prize of Culture and Solidarity” was awarded to Fr. Hugo Rios, Claretian missionary from Chile who has worked in Africa for the past 30 years.
The award confered by The Giuseppe Donati Center of Studies from the city of Pistoia, Italy was given last 21st of November during the 28th International Encounter of Peace, Culture and Solidarity with the support of the President of the Republic of Italy. Besides Fr. Hugo Rios, citation to other six international personalities were also given.
In Fr. Hugo’s case, the citation was meant to give recognition to his 30 years of missionary work in Africa to the poorest among poor, and especially in the Pediatric Foundation of Kimbodó, established by the Democratic Republic of Congo.
